My name is Susan and I currently reside in California. I am old enough to know better, but still willing to take a chance. A few years ago I did just that, the story begins when after my 20 year marriage ended. I was not wanting to go home after work as I worked nights, so I'd go with coworkers and have a drink and play some pool at a local establishment. One night when a coworker went to  leave, I went out with her to make sure everything was OK, that's when my nightmare began.

One thing led to another and I ended up in a careflight on my way to Washoe Medical Center. It was the most terrifying time of my life. I spent 5 weeks there, then came home where my wonderful mother, fantastic father and my super daughter did all they could to help me get back to normal. It was a long haul and they were there every step of the way. My friends were also there. Without this wonderful bunch of people, life would probably be different, how I am not sure, but their support played a big part in my recovery.

Susan and Mick
After a few surgeries and recovering, I met up with a man (Mick) whom I had graduated High School with some 22 years earlier. I had seen Mick off and on as he was a brother to one of my friends here. We got together, and a year later he moved in with me. I will admit, he's been alone most of his life, never being married, so I knew going into it that there'd be some adjusting on both parts. He's wonderful with my daughter and her family! To me, he's a very caring man, showing me affection I have not seen before.

Then came the wedding of my daughter, Joyce! Oh what a wonderful time that was, the planning of everything and the hustle and bustle of getting it all put together. It was exhausting, but very enjoyable and I enjoyed it all.

Six months later came the arrival of my granddaughter, Alexia Caitlyn Bogle. Since they only lived 45 miles away, I was able to be there for the blessed event, and that is just what it was. At first I didn't think I wanted to be in the room when she was born, but I got to tell you, every grandma needs to hare that event with their child. It was very beautiful. Mick found out what it was like in the early years as he was out in the hall pacing and hearing us coaching Joyce, and he was just as anxious as we were in the room. When the delivery was all over, I went out and he was just wet from sweat, lol..that pacing wore him out!

Then came Christmas and that was a very nice time as well, of course Alexia was a little small, but it was fun watching her try to decide what she was supposed to do. Of course, Mommy helped her as did we all at one time or another. The plan was to let her do her "own" thing, but as time went on we knew if we left her alone, she'd still be focusing in the ribbons and bows that were on the gifts. Those seemed to be more important than anything else.

Our next big event was Alexia's First Birthday, which I actually missed her party, as I had surgery and wasn't able to make the trip over for it, but on her birthday, I showed up with her gift, and no darn camera, talk about frustrating. Here I am trying to keep a photo log of her important times and there I was with no camera. The two pictures of her birthday posted here are from her Great G'ma.

The dress she is wearing here has been kept and passed down the line. My grandma made it for me, I kept it and my daughter wore it, her daughter wore it too, and hopefully the next one will wear it as well.

While we are awaiting the arrival of g'child #2 who is due to enter the world in September, lots of things took place all at once. First off, my dad had back surgery on September 5th at Washoe Medical Center in Reno Nevada, all went well and the orthopedic surgeon was excited after the surgery that dad did really well through it. On September 11, 2001 we all know that the World Trade Towers in New York were hit by air planes that were hijacked by terrorist. These are things that you would see in a movie etc. and here we were watching it on TV live as it unfolded while I was getting ready to go to work. While this was happening, my mom was going to bring my dad home from the hospital as he was being released. They got home safe and sound and we all kept up on the news in NY.

On Wednesday September 12, 2001, the day after my dad came home, we were saddened as he passed away taking a nap with his best friend in the world, his dog "Little Guy". The week following was hard on us all.

My brother from Colorado came out to help with things, my daughter (still waiting to deliver) came and we spent some time as a family, doing some things for Mom to get her ready for the winter.

As we lost a family member, 5 days later we gained a beautiful little girl whom we had all been waiting for, Briana Elizabeth Bogle. She is a joy that holds a special spot in life. She was born 1 day after we laid daddy to rest. I was accompanied to Reno by Jim's wife Julie, we were both there when she was born, oh let me tell you, the emotions were so scrambled I didn't know what to do, so I cried.
5 day old Briana Elizabeth Bogle

In April we celebrated Alexia's 2nd birthday It was alot of fun as she was old enough to understand more about opening gifts and all.
